The Mind Body Connection

On a beautiful sunny summer morning, I awaited my first client of the day. I practice Energy work with Hypnosis at a Holistic Collective in a small town nestled in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. A tall lean woman walked through door. She was the picture of health, it would seem. As we began our session it was very clear that her terrible deep stomach pain caused from an ulcer was in fact guilt eating at her center. Years of repression of a small incident that caused her guilt began a snowball effect of physical ailments that have begun to break her digestive and immune system down. With in her relaxing session she was able to see the link between her emotional and physical bodies. The acknowledgement begins her process to heal.
Our mind and emotions are a vast well, in which influences how we communicate, react in life and the overall well being of our physical health. The ability to know the emotional body and acceptance of the true self can dramatically affect how you heal your body and how happy you are in your life.
To begin looking within yourself and locating the emotion that is associated with a physical aliment takes some quiet time spent with yourself. You can begin by closing your eyes in a light meditation and isolating the pain that you feel; then placing an emotion on the pain. For example, pain and numbness in the right hand. After a few moments of thought the pain is associated with giving too much, and as the pain goes into numbness the emotion of resentment comes in. We are not text books and your body and mind will speak its own language. Although there are common aliments associated with emotions, the best way for you to understand your connection is to listen to what your mind and body is saying.
Everyday we live life experiences, pleasant or not so pleasant. These experiences affect your emotional body, pleasant or not so pleasant. A constant nonverbal exchange between your emotional and physical body is required in order to maintain balance. With in the balance practicing relaxing Yoga, hiking, eating well, visiting your doctor and even energy healing creates a deeper connection with the self.
The tall thin woman returns to my office on a monthly basis. Before each session she begins with forgiveness of herself and an affirmation to heal. She uses affirmations as a reprogramming of the brain and her emotional body. In turn she is able to heal the deep wound in her stomach. It goes beyond just thinking a new thought process. At first just a small want to change then becoming a belief system. With just one step of forgiveness of herself, she has been able to transform her life. Her choices in healthy foods, her kinder demeanor, she truly has let go of her guilt.
This process is mastered over a life time. A true understanding of your mind body connection is learned over a life time of experiences. So wake-up, enjoy the ride and give yourself a little more understanding. The mystery of your health and how you heal lies with in you. I wish you Peace and Light on your journey to heal.
